J-01 Gallery is a concept store, gallery space and online platform that bridges gaps between sneaker culture, new-age fashion, and contemporary lifestyle. In collaboration with photographer Christina Paik, J-01 is pleased to present a solo exhibition for her MEUFs tour in Hong Kong.
With a successful run of the first MEUFS tour in 2016, Paik once again allows the audience to access and witness the world through her lens. Stopping in Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, round deux of the Asia Tour “My Kinda Wall” is installed in the space, by the artist. The photographer, best known for her portrait photographs, has shot some of the world’s most coveted models and artists (think Kiko Mizuhara, A$AP Mob and more) during her extensive travels across the globe for Fashion Week seasons, whilst also working with notable names such as Virgil Abloh’s OFF WHITE. Paik splits her time between New York and Paris but is forever worldwide. In an attempt to capture emotionally open portraits of her subjects, her narrative sheds light through a distinctive style expos- ing intimacy and candidness. And with longstanding collaborations with brands such as Adidas, Louis Vuitton, and much more, Paik’s aesthetic stands out as she continues to document with film in a digital world. The work simply speaks for itself.
MEUFS will run through March 22-27. The artist will be present at the opening reception Tuesday, March 22nd from 6 - 9pm with the support of YETI OUT, OKOKOK and Cyber 69. J-01 gallery hours are Monday to Sunday 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
