Everyone’s falling back in love with New Balance’s classics these days. Widely hailed by sneaker heads as arguably the most comfortable sneaker line, the American brand decided to revamp its classic 997, but only barely, proving that it’s a silhouette so perfect that even they can’t revamp it to the max. Of course, they know how to hype up their fans, as each return of the New Balance 997 gets people excited (think 2014.) Each revamp of the trainer has a few minor tweaks, but still gets the crowd going. Established in 1991, the silhouette is already 15 years old, prompting the brand to take new direction with it – making it the 997.5. The 997.5 is meant to be a fuse of two New Balance models – the 997 and the 998.
With the upper of the 997 silhouette, and the midsole of the 998 (whose United Arrows collab goes down in history as one of Kanye West’s favourite sneakers of all time), the 997.5 is a merger of all of New Balance’s best.
The New Balance 997.5 is available exclusively at select New Balance retailers worldwide, including J-01 in Hong Kong.
