Earlier this week, Jamie xx released the music video for “GOSH,” the fourth single off his first full-length LP, In Colour. Directed by the visionary Greek-French director Romain Gavras, renowned for his work on music videos with M.I.A., Justice, the late DJ Mehdi, and more, the video uses over 400 actors. The video itself, filmed in the dystopic Chinese town of Tianducheng (添堵城), in the suburbs of Hangzhou (杭州), is extremely high concept, almost providing sensory overload for its viewers.
As many people actually may not know, “GOSH” received its first music video treatment over a year ago, upon its release as a single, directed by Erik Wernquist.
Just a few days ago, on his official Facebook page, Jamie beautifully expressed how “Romain Gavras has directed some of [his] very favourite music videos” and that he is “so happy that [his] music inspired him to make something this incredible for GOSH.”
