Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable and appealing when displayed. Since the launch Kanye West's merchandise for The Life of Pablo album/tour, typography can be seen making waves in streetwear fashion. The collaboration between Kanye and artist, Cali DeWitt has the Old English font kicking in and dominating as the New York Times recognized it as fashion’s go-to font.
However, Planet Kosmos is soon to overturn the Old English font. According to Racked, both Kanye and Raf Simons have co-signed agreements with “Planet Kosmos” font creator Mads Rydahl allowing the designers to use the font freely. Rydahl created the font to look as if it was “...a superfast electric motorcycle from a manga-like next millennium.” The font can already be seen on Kanye's hyped and unreleased “Calabasas” sweatpants and now in Raf Simons’s spring/summer 2017 collection.
Look out for the takeover of Planet Kosmos.
