Chicago has been known for its thriving art scene, and this is another reason why. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago continues to feature the art of our time in every possible media by artist of local and international renown.
Contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will be displaying a total of 50 works in the retrospective, dubbed as Takashi Murakami: The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg. The installation will focus on the “contemporary influences of globalization, media culture, and the continued threats of nuclear power.”
In addition, Oklahoma creative, Larry Clark will be tackling the coming of age genre, featuring artworks from artist Rineke Dijkstra, Leon Golub, Mona Hatoum, Jack Pierson, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Francesca Woodman. These works will call attention the "...span from analog culture into the utopic digital age, examine the concept of youth and present the adolescent body as a site of desire, memory, and ambition.”
