With islander vibes through and through, OVO prodigy and underground R&B artist Roy Wood$ unveiled his music video for the single “Gwan Big Up Urself” a few hours ago. Drake’s most hopeful prospect Roy stays decked out in Toronto-based brand Needs & Wants Studios by Sean Brown for the course of the video, but of course, they don’t forget to flash KNOW YOURSELF hoodies and sweatpants and Toronto Blue Jays jerseys nearing the end of the vid. The fashions sported in the video are really something else. Reflecting hints of Drake & Rihanna’s video for “Work,” there are more than a few hints of mesh, Rastafarian colours, and Tommy Hilfiger-esque undergarments. Not to mention Roy’s amazing red patent jacket by Needs & Wants and his vintage sunglasses to match.
Roy Wood$’ debut studio album, Waking At Dawn, dropped just last month, after the overwhelming success of his EP, Exis. And the rap crooner made sure to release his video for the hit single “Gwan Big Up Urself” before the end of summer sixteen.
