With impeccable art direction and cultural references, Majid Jordan’s latest video for “Small Talk” trumps the genius of all their other singles so far. Directed by Toronto’s infamous design collective Kid. Studio, the video is nuanced from start to finish – beginning with a cheeky French dialogue (subtitled in English) between the duo, Majid Al-Maskati and Jordan Ullman. The Toronto-based OVO prodigies basically document a quintessential Toronto summer in their video – cruising around with the top down, chasing girls, eating Pho, and running around rooftops with the CN tower in the background (more or less.) We’ve gotta say, Kid. Studio’s Glenn Michael, Ali Khurshid, Christo Anesti, and co really killed it on this one.
This is the latest of 7 music videos to come out from their eponymous debut album released this past February on October’s Very Own. Each one seems better than the next. The piece was financed in part by MuchFACT – Canada’s Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent in music development.
PS. Check out that Stone Island.
Majid Jordan hit the road in a few weeks for an expansive headlining tour – check out whether they’re hitting a location near you.
